This week St. Joseph's Newton Aycliffe, Year 6 pupils proudly joined OASES’s ECO2 COP30 International Schools Conference, aligning with this year’s COP30 summit in Belém, Brazil.

The global theme for COP30 is “Uniting for Our Forests”, and our students explored why creating and protecting trees and forests is essential in the fight against climate change.

What Did They Do?

During the conference, our pupils had the chance to:

Ask questions to an expert panel

Share their thoughts and feelings on climate action

Hear live updates from a climate scientist on COP30 progress

  1. Why It Matters

Forests are the lungs of our planet. They absorb carbon, protect biodiversity, and provide vital resources for communities worldwide. By engaging in this global conversation, our children are learning that their voices matter in shaping a sustainable future.

We’re proud to empower our young people to be part of the solution and take meaningful steps toward protecting our planet.

Together, we can make a difference!
