Lake District Adventure Creates Lasting Memories for St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Pupils
Pupils from St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Newton Aycliffe have returned from an unforgettable three-day residential visit to Derwent Hill in the Lake District, packed with adventure, challenge and achievement. From Monday to Wednesday, children from Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm, determination and plenty of smiles as they took part in a range of exciting outdoor activities. The residential programme included ghyll scrambling, exploring a mine, canoeing, rock climbing and the famous Death Swing. Each activity encouraged pupils to step beyond their comfort zones, develop new skills and discover what they were capable of achieving.
Year 3 and 4 Discover the Legend of the Lambton Worm at Seven Stories Pop Up
Pupils from St Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Newton Aycliffe enjoyed an exciting journey into local history and storytelling during a recent visit to the Seven Stories Pop Up in Durham. On Friday 18 September, Year 3 and Year 4 pupils took part in a fascinating Lambton Worm workshop, where they explored one of the North East's most famous legends. The visit provided children with the opportunity to learn about the traditional tale through a range of interactive activities designed to bring the story to life.

Pupils at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Newton Aycliffe enjoyed a memorable Roald Dahl Day celebration, with a special assembly led by the school's Reading Ambassadors. During the assembly, children listened to a short extract from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, one of Roald Dahl's most popular stories. The reading helped bring to life the excitement, wonder and imagination that have made Dahl's books favourites for generations of young readers.

Pupils and parents at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Newton Aycliffe enjoyed an unforgettable Colour Run, filled with laughter, excitement and plenty of colourful fun. As participants made their way around the course, they were covered from head to toe in a rainbow of colours, creating fantastic memories and bringing smiles to faces throughout the event.

Attendance Rewards Bring Smiles Across School
This term, our pupils have been busy filling their class attendance piggy banks and working together to earn exciting rewards from our Attendance Menu. For every child who achieves 100% attendance each week, £1 is added to their class piggy bank. Classes can boost their savings even further, with £10 added for the class with the best attendance each week and £5 added if a class improves its attendance compared to the previous week. This encourages everyone to work together, support one another and make every school day count.
