British Science Week at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School!

British Science Week at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School ended with a celebration of curiosity and creativity. The Eco Warriors opened the week with an inspiring assembly, encouraging pupils to think like scientists. Children took part in an engineering challenge, designing inventions to make life better. South West Durham Training visited to teach KS2 about engineering careers, while KS1 enjoyed a robot-themed story and even met the robot. A brilliant, inspiring week for all.

​​​​​​​St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Newton Aycliffe has enjoyed an exciting and inspiring Careers Week, with pupils from Reception to Year 6 taking part in a wide range of hands‑on experiences designed to broaden aspirations and introduce children to real‑world career pathways. Across the week, students met professionals from multiple sectors—including public services, technology, sport, and community support—helping them understand the many opportunities available for their futures.

World Book Day at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School – A Celebration of Stories, Imagination and Reading Magic

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Newton Aycliffe enjoyed a fantastic World Book Day celebration yesterday, filled with creativity, colourful costumes, and a shared love of reading. Our two‑year‑olds and nursery children had an especially wonderful day embracing the joy of stories in fun and imaginative ways. Throughout the day, children arrived dressed as their favourite book characters—from timeless classics to modern favourites. The effort, imagination and creativity that went into the costumes were truly impressive, bringing beloved stories to life across our EYFS classrooms.

At St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Newton Aycliffe, we love bringing stories to life — and this term, our children enjoyed a truly memorable experience as part of our celebration of Winnie‑the‑Pooh Day, marking the 100th anniversary of this much‑loved children’s classic. To enrich the children’s learning, we were delighted to welcome Seven Stories – The National Centre for Children’s Books into school. Their interactive storytelling sessions inspired imagination, creativity, and a love of literature, helping children explore the world of A.A. Milne’s Winnie‑the‑Pooh in a fun and meaningful way.
