It was wonderful to welcome families and members of our wider school community into school to enjoy a warm drink, a good book, and plenty of friendly conversation. Celebrating World Religions Day & Martin Luther King Day at St Joseph’s
This week at St Joseph’s, our school community came together for a thoughtful and inspiring celebration of World Religions Day and Martin Luther King Day. Our School Council led both assemblies with confidence and care, helping pupils to explore the importance of understanding, respecting, and valuing the many different beliefs and cultures that make up our world. They also shared learning about the life and legacy of Dr Martin Luther King Jr., focusing on his powerful messages of equality, peace, and compassion.

At St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Newton Aycliffe, we love bringing stories to life — and this term, our children enjoyed a truly memorable experience as part of our celebration of Winnie‑the‑Pooh Day, marking the 100th anniversary of this much‑loved children’s classic. To enrich the children’s learning, we were delighted to welcome Seven Stories – The National Centre for Children’s Books into school. Their interactive storytelling sessions inspired imagination, creativity, and a love of literature, helping children explore the world of A.A. Milne’s Winnie‑the‑Pooh in a fun and meaningful way.

Nursery Adventure at The Hubbloo, Darlington!
The nursery children from St Joseph’s, Newton Aycliffe had a fantastic visit to The Hubbloo in Darlington. They were captivated by the giant paper rolls and asked lots of curious questions about how they’re made. The trip provided a fun, hands-on learning experience, and staff were proud of the children’s enthusiasm and engagement throughout the visit.

Our pupils had a fantastic time at Darlington Hippodrome watching Goldilocks and the Three Bears! The show was full of fun, laughter, and colourful circus-themed sets that kept everyone entertained from start to finish.
