Supporting Wellbeing at Our School

At our school, the wellbeing of every child is a priority. We believe that children thrive when they feel safe, happy, valued and supported. Positive wellbeing underpins successful learning and enables pupils to develop resilience, confidence and healthy relationships, helping them to achieve their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.

We are committed to creating a nurturing environment where all members of our school community feel respected, listened to and cared for.

Our Approach to Wellbeing

Wellbeing is woven throughout all aspects of school life and is promoted through our curriculum, pastoral care, enrichment opportunities and daily interactions.

We aim to help pupils:

  • Feel safe, secure and valued
  • Develop positive relationships
  • Build resilience and confidence
  • Understand and manage their emotions
  • Develop healthy lifestyles
  • Know where to seek help and support when needed
  • Dedicated Wellbeing Support

We are proud to have a dedicated and fully trained Mental Health Lead within school who works closely with pupils, families and staff to promote positive mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Our Mental Health Lead helps to:

  • Support pupils experiencing emotional difficulties
  • Provide guidance and advice for families
  • Coordinate wellbeing initiatives across the school
  • Signpost and liaise with external support services where appropriate
  • Promote positive mental health for all members of our school community
  • This ensures that wellbeing remains a key priority and that children receive timely support whenever it is needed.

Pupil Wellbeing Leadership

Children play an important role in promoting positive wellbeing across the school.

Our dedicated Wellbeing Leaders work alongside staff to:

  • Promote kindness and inclusion
  • Organise wellbeing-focused activities
  • Encourage positive relationships across the school
  • Ensure children’s voices are heard

These leadership opportunities help pupils develop responsibility, confidence and compassion while making a meaningful contribution to school life.

These targeted interventions help ensure that children receive the support they need to flourish both socially and emotionally.

Positive Relationships

Strong relationships are at the heart of a happy and successful school community.

We encourage pupils to:

  • Show kindness and compassion towards others
  • Respect differences and celebrate diversity
  • Work cooperatively with their peers
  • Develop positive friendships
  • Support one another through challenges

Our staff work hard to ensure every child feels known, valued and cared for.

Emotional Wellbeing

Helping children understand and manage their emotions is an important part of their personal development.

We support emotional wellbeing through:

  • Dedicated PSHE lessons
  • Collective worship and reflection
  • Opportunities to discuss feelings and concerns
  • Trusted adults who are always available to listen
  • Wellbeing activities and initiatives throughout the year
  • Team Up Kids and Piece of Mind support programmes

Children are encouraged to recognise that it is okay to seek support whenever they need it.

Physical Wellbeing

Physical health plays an important role in overall wellbeing.

We promote healthy lifestyles through:

  • High-quality Physical Education lessons
  • Active playtimes and sporting opportunities
  • Encouraging healthy eating habits
  • Promoting good sleep and healthy routines
  • Participation in clubs, competitions and physical activities

We encourage all children to understand the importance of caring for both their physical and mental health.

Supporting Families

We recognise that positive wellbeing is most effective when schools and families work together.

We are committed to:

  • Building strong relationships with parents and carers
  • Offering support and guidance where needed
  • Signposting families to specialist services and agencies
  • Maintaining open communication to ensure children receive the support they need
  • Working together helps us provide the best possible outcomes for every child.

Working with Families and External Agencies

We understand that some children and families may benefit from additional support at different times. As a school, we are committed to working closely with families and a range of professional services to ensure every child receives the help they need to thrive.

We have strong links with Early Help services and work collaboratively with a variety of external agencies, including:

  • Educational Psychology Services
  • School Nursing Team
  • CAMHS and Mental Health Support Teams
  • Family Support Services
  • Attendance and Inclusion Teams
  • Speech and Language Services
  • Social Care and Safeguarding Teams
  • Local charities and community organisations

By working in partnership with families and specialist professionals, we can provide timely support, guidance and intervention tailored to the needs of individual children.

Our aim is to ensure that every child feels supported, valued and able to overcome barriers to learning, wellbeing and personal development.

We believe that early intervention is key to ensuring children and families receive the right support at the right time.

Wellbeing in Everyday School Life

Wellbeing is not a separate initiative—it is part of everything we do. Whether through learning in the classroom, participation in clubs and enrichment activities, positive relationships, leadership opportunities or moments of reflection and prayer, we strive to ensure that wellbeing remains central to school life.

Through the support of our trained Mental Health Lead, Wellbeing Leaders, Team Up Kids and Piece of Mind programmes, alongside our strong partnerships with Early Help and external agencies, we ensure that children and families have access to a wide range of support tailored to their individual needs. Together, we work to promote positive wellbeing and help every child feel happy, safe and ready to learn.

By placing wellbeing at the heart of our school, we help our pupils develop the confidence, resilience and emotional intelligence needed to flourish both now and in the future.

Our Commitment

We are proud to be a school where children are encouraged to be themselves, celebrate their successes, learn from challenges and support one another.

Together, we create a caring, inclusive and nurturing community where every child feels happy, healthy, safe, supported and empowered to succeed.
