Our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Newton Aycliffe, had a wonderful adventure today as they visited Hopetown – Celebration of the Railway. The children had an unforgettable experience exploring the museum, discovering the history of the railway, and taking part in the fun hands-on activities available throughout the day.
From climbing aboard beautifully restored carriages to learning how railways shaped local communities, the trip offered a fantastic blend of education, curiosity and creativity. The children were fully engaged, asked brilliant questions, and embraced the chance to learn outside the classroom.
Throughout the visit, there were smiles all around—a true testament to how much the children enjoyed themselves. These experiences help create lasting memories and support the rich, varied curriculum we strive to provide here at St Joseph’s.
A big thank you to the staff, parent helpers and Hopetown’s incredible team for making the day so enjoyable and educational. We are grateful for the warm welcome and the inspiring activities that made the railway’s story come to life for our younger pupils.
A fantastic day filled with learning, laughter and lots of happy faces!
