Pupils at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Newton Aycliffe came together to celebrate World Environment Day and World Oceans Day with a focus on environmental responsibility and community action.

The school’s Eco Warriors led whole-school assemblies, sharing clear and important messages about protecting the environment and caring for oceans. They encouraged pupils to think about how everyday actions can make a positive difference to the planet.

Eco Warriors Take the Lead

During the assemblies, the Eco Warriors highlighted key environmental issues, helping pupils understand:

  • The importance of looking after the natural world
  • How pollution affects oceans and wildlife
  • Simple steps everyone can take to help protect the environment

Their work helped raise awareness across the school and encouraged all pupils to play their part.

Supporting the Local Community

To put their message into action, the Eco Warriors also carried out a litter pick in the local Newton Aycliffe community. This activity showed their commitment to keeping the local environment clean and caring for the world around them.

A Positive Impact

The school community has recognised the efforts of the Eco Warriors and the example they have set. Their actions demonstrate how working together can have a meaningful impact on the environment.

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School continues to promote environmental awareness, encouraging pupils to take responsibility and make choices that help protect the planet.
