Pupils from St Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Newton Aycliffe enjoyed an exciting journey into local history and storytelling during a recent visit to the Seven Stories Pop Up in Durham.

On Friday 18 September, Year 3 and Year 4 pupils took part in a fascinating Lambton Worm workshop, where they explored one of the North East's most famous legends. The visit provided children with the opportunity to learn about the traditional tale through a range of interactive activities designed to bring the story to life.

Throughout the workshop, pupils discovered how stories from the local area have been shared and preserved across generations. They demonstrated excellent enthusiasm, creativity and curiosity as they immersed themselves in the activities and explored the rich heritage of the North East.

The experience also helped to foster a love of reading and storytelling, encouraging children to connect with local culture while developing their imagination and literacy skills. Staff were delighted to see pupils engaging so positively with the workshop and embracing the opportunity to learn more about a well-known regional legend.

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School is proud of the excellent behaviour and positive attitude shown by the children throughout the visit. Their conduct reflected the school's values and made them outstanding ambassadors for the Newton Aycliffe school community.

The memorable trip was an enjoyable and educational experience for all involved, giving pupils the chance to celebrate local heritage while strengthening their appreciation of stories and reading.
