Our Year 4 pupils enjoyed a wonderful and reflective day at St John’s Catholic School & Sixth Form College, where the theme of the visit was “Build a Better World.”

Throughout the day, the children explored how Catholic Social Teaching (CST) can be put into action in everyday life. They moved around a variety of thoughtfully prepared prayer stations, each linked to a different aspect of CST, encouraging pupils to reflect on dignity, community, care for others and responsibility for our world.

The experience encouraged quiet reflection, discussion and prayer, giving children time to think deeply about how their faith guides their actions. The pupils represented St Joseph’s beautifully and fully embraced the opportunity, showing respect, maturity and curiosity throughout the day.

St Joseph’s is proud to be a feeder school to St John’s, one of the top-performing secondary schools in County Durham. Strong partnerships like this are incredibly valuable, and our pupils benefit greatly from opportunities such as these—including the chance to experience the secondary school environment and facilities in a supportive and welcoming setting.

Days like today help strengthen transition links, raise aspirations and deepen pupils’ understanding of how their learning and faith journey will continue as they move on to the next stage of their education.

It was a truly enjoyable and meaningful day, and we would like to thank St John’s for hosting such a thoughtful and inspiring experience.
